Here I let you into the workings of my mind as I go about my days, and how the spirit of rich thinking occurs in my life, and can therefore occur in yours too. All comments very welcome, as I learn and grow from everyone!

Thoughts, feelings and success!

“Oh God! What will I do if Philip drops dead on me?”

This was my first thought the other morning on wakening. Not a great start to the day! Previously, I’d heard about a colleague who had suddenly died, this had reminded me of someone who had also died suddenly last year, and before I knew it I was worrying about what I’d do if my partner died.

Didn’t expect it to have such an impact at the beginning of my day though!

Anyway, I lay there worrying for a while (5 minutes probably) then got out of bed with the intention of going for a walk to ‘clear my head’.

Have you ever noticed that when you’re trying to replace your negative thoughts with more positive ones (more...)

Learning from dogs

Just looked at what I wrote in the last post — I was going to leave behind grey, wet and windy weather when doing my workshop in Greece…

Ha!

Actually the weather was better here in the north of Scotland! I’ve never known Greece like it — it may not have been windy but it was certainly grey and wet. Ah well. However — the workshop was fantastic, went really well, lots of good feedback and I really enjoyed myself.

This morning though, out walking, a dog bounced up to me. It was a Golden Retriever, and looked so happy I started musing about what it would be like to be a dog. They seem to me to have life sorted — so long as (more...)

Business growth through singing?

‘Going singing instead of to a marketing meeting?’

‘Are you crazy? ’ A little voice in my head said. From the outside, attending a live singing event last night instead of driving to Inverness to a marketing network meeting definitely did NOT seem the right thing to do in terms of growing my business.

But as soon as I’d been singing for ten minutes, I knew I’d made the right decision. My heart soared, I felt immensely grateful I’d chosen to sing, and I knew all over again why I’m alive and what is my purpose on this earth. Wow! How’s that for the result of a decision!

Anyway — the reasoning behind this is applicable in any situation. I’d marked in my diary this marketing (more...)

Thinking yourself rich and slim!

I was walking back home through the trees and across the park, my mind meandering as it does sometimes.

Suddenly I realised I was thinking about losing a bit of weight, and remembered that in the hypnotherapy CD I’d been listening to, I’d been imagining myself in a particular pair of trousers I can fit into when I’ve lost a few pounds. I brought to mind that image, and realised I needed to get used to it in my mind’s eye first before it could happen in physical reality.

Ding! Yes — even though I’ve known this kind of thing intellectually for ages, it was one of those moments when you reach a different level of understanding.

Then I thought ‘I need to become comfortable in (more...)

How to do What I Did lists…

I was telling a visiting friend the other day about my ‘What I Did’ list (see earlier post), and how good it felt to write it down and review it. He said:

“People who think through the things they’ve done in the day and say thank you live longer and happier lives, apparently. I’ve always gone through everything I’ve done and been grateful for it, last thing at night, ever since I can remember”.

I said ‘You’ll be on my blog tomorrow!” And so he is. Thank you, Martin! (Professor of Mountain Studies at the University of the Highlands and Islands, and a great advert for looking young, and staying fit and healthy).

I think he’s right of course — so I’m adding being grateful for (more...)
