Here I let you into the workings of my mind as I go about my days, and how the spirit of rich thinking occurs in my life, and can therefore occur in yours too. All comments very welcome, as I learn and grow from everyone!

How do you start Monday mornings?

Nothing like starting a Monday morning, the beginning of the week, with a rich thinking action. You might think that would be making a prioritisation list and carrying it out; or taking some specific marketing action; or even seeing a client at 9am. But I go to a Pilates class. At 9.15am on a Monday morning! It took me quite a while to let myself do this, as it was against my Scottish Protestant work ethic which says quite categorically that Monday mornings are for hard work and nothing else.

But I wanted to change that, and especially after I’d heard Robert Holden, founder of the Happiness Project, say a few years ago that he had challenged himself in this very way by going (more...)

Great teleclass last night!

Wow, last night was a great call! I really enjoyed it. Lots of people listening in to the first week of the RichThinking Way, one of the first two classes that anyone can join in for free.

We were focusing on inside out goal setting; here’s what a couple of people said:

I’ve lived the cost of not thinking this way and now I understand it (goal setting), I know what I’ve not been doing! I’ll definitely be there next week.

Thank you that was fabulous. Really enjoyed it. I’m going to find time every day to implement the exercise we did. Looking forward to next week.

AND IT“S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN IN!

Ah, the irony!

After a very enjoyable interview last Thursday evening with Paul Harvey of www.market-that.com, entitled How to Manage in Troubled Times, I came off the phone feeling great, very buoyant, and pleased with how it had gone. So far so good. Then in the wee hours of the morning, 2.30am to be precise I was awake. I didn’t think I was worrying, but something had certainly woken me, so I was immediately given the great opportunity to reflect on what I had shared in the call about my Middle of the Night Survival Kit (a list of what to to when you wake up worrying in the night).

Yes, I got to walk my talk just a few hours after I had been sharing my (more...)

Thank goodness for technology!

I’ve just come off the line from being interviewed by Paul Harvey of www.market-that.co.uk on the subject of How to Manage in Troubled Times — it was great! I really enjoyed myself, and rather than having to go out in the cold dark snowy night, I was able to be on the call, with several others listening in, from the comfort of my own armchair, all warm and cosy.

That’s really a huge advantage of courses that take place over the phone or via your computer. They’ll never replace face to face groups of course, but when it’s wet and cold outside there’s no doubt what kind of group I’d rather be doing!
If you’ve never considered that you could offer this kind of service, (more...)

Comparison and competition

I read somewhere recently that comparison was just a cousin to competition. Not that there is anything wrong with either of these states, but it is extremely easy when comparing to end up feeling either ‘more than’ or ‘less than’, neither of which is true.

Comparison can be very healthy if it encourages people to stretch and grow themselves; but again, it is all too easy to fall prey to egotistical thoughts that then can become your downfall. Like the other day when I was so sure that I had sent an email, and found myself beginning to blame the recipient for not replying to me. Because of course, I would never just not reply! And then, rather humblingly, I found that I had only sent the (more...)
