The secret success of positive thoughts

I’ve come across many, many people somewhat disgruntled with positive thinking, because they say it doesn’t work. They’ve tried affirming for what they want, and it seems so patently ridiculous that they give up. Mistake. Because it’s the very thought that it’s ridiculous that holds the secret to the success of the positive thought.

Imagine yourself saying a statement such as:

My income is constantly increasing

And then listen to what you think in response to that. If you’re spending more than your income, or if your income is static, it’s likely to be something like ‘no it isn’t’, or ‘what a lot of rubbish!’ Over the last twenty years of using affirmations in my own life, and teaching this [read more]

It’s all in your mind.…

I was wandering through the woods on my way to volunteering at the Findhorn Foundation yesterday, and I realised I wasn’t noticing the trees, the blossom, the leaves, birdsong – anything. I was completely lost inside my own world in my head. And yet the previous day, I’d been in the same place and completely blissed out by the very same things. Nothing had changed (it wasn’t blue sky one day and not the next!). Only the thoughts inside my head were different.

This happens when I look at my bank account too — I look one day and see an enormous amount of money, and look even an hour later and suddenly, although the amount is the same, it’s [read more]

But as I was there, I bumped into a friend who said she was going somewhere else to get them cheaper; I asked her to get me some. A few [read more]

Thump, thump, thump! Panic stations. Sometimes you find yourself sitting bolt upright in bed. You just know it’s those wee small hours again, a time when you never feel so alone. Or maybe you find yourself awakening slowly, finding the fear overtaking you, despite your best efforts. How do you cope when this happens?

I’ve been in this place often, so I’m well-qualified to put together a survival kit! This is my list of things that work for me. I’ve divided it into two sections, when you are conscious enough and wanting to address the fear; the second when for whatever reason you just want to distract yourself enough to go back to sleep.

This kit is a list of [read more]

Knowing your business

Mmm. Nothing like a marketing conference to make you realise you have to be really clear about the message you want to put across…

I learnt some great things on this conference, was in a high state of excitement for 3 days and then crash — down I came the morning after it finished. Why? Because a little question infiltrated itself into my mind ‘What if it doesn’t work?’.

That little comment from my critical part inside then was with me for a while that morning, until I realised it’s value, which is to make me be really clear about what I want RichThinkers to be offering. This is a work in progress, by the way, so watch out for [read more]
