Have you got a diary coach?

A diary coach is when you make an appointment in your diary, and then treat the diary as if it were your coach and you’d committed yourself to doing what you said you were going to do. It takes some discipline and organisation, but it really works!

This idea has come out of me noticing that whenever I put something in my diary, it’s more likely to happen than not. I always thought I had to note things down because otherwise I’d forget them, but actually it has this other function too.

The other day I booked an appointment with me. I blocked out 2 hours, and wrote in ‘Big Picture’. It was so I’d actually take the time I [read more]

Panic, papers, and your inner world

A friend told me that the other day, they’d seen someone in the supermarket arrive at the checkout with a fully loaded trolley.

When it came to putting her newspaper on the moving belt, it was as if she’d seen the headlines for the first time. ‘PANIC!’ they screamed.

He watched as she look at this word, and then heard her say out loud ‘I don’t want to read about that!’ and promptly left the newspaper behind.

I liked this story because it showed me that someone, even when doing the often mindless job of supermarket shopping, was being aware of what they wanted to take in in their lives. And it led me to thinking of the effects of [read more]

Financial Collapse, Fear and True Wealth

I was in tears and despair as I read an article about what’s been happening in America and worldwide.

I don’t usually let myself read the media, because I get too easily infected by negative things. But I had done on this occasion. Wasn’t a good feeling — but it’s resulted in these thoughts.

RichThinking is about finding your own sources of true wealth and setting your life up to experience that on a daily basis.

It’s not just about money, although it includes money. Rather it’s about knowing who you are; choosing to express that in the world in a way that nourishes you and everyone else; having a sense of your own worth; charging accordingly for your work; [read more]

It’s 4.30am. I’m wide awake, have been since 2.30! what on earth is going on?

Well, I’m excited. I woke at 2.30am full of ideas of what to write on my website about my new study manual, How To Be a RichThinker: essential inner tools of success for therapists, coaches and other wellness professionals.

It’s practically ready to go live and that’s what’s so exciting! It was only 6 months ago that my website went live, even though in my mind’s eye RichThinkers has been coming for over a year. The culmination of all my years of business, counselling practice and personal development seminars has come together in RichThinkers and I am just plain excited!

How do I know it’s [read more]

The Glad Game

OK, Pollyanna.

When I used to think of that word I thought, ‘yuck, cringe-making, boring, too good to be true’ and other such things.

Until a colleague I really respect suggested I read ‘Pollyanna’ — and I just finished it this morning. Far from being too good to be true, it’s 100% in line with RichThinking, I’m glad to say!

The story is simple — a young orphan child goes to stay with her cross old aunt, who’s only taking her in because it’s her ‘duty’. (This was written in 1913 by the way). The child, Pollyanna, brings with her a game taught her by her father, which is basically to look for something to be glad about in every [read more]
