Joint ventures and your database

A joint venture in the internet marketing world is when two or more people join together to help promote their business to each others’ mailing lists. I’ve been investigating this lately, and although I have learnt a lot about it from various people more experienced than I, what I hadn’t realised is that my whole marketing programme needs to be laid out before I can approach others.

I discovered this when I agreed blithely to promote a colleagues’ work, and introduce my mailing list to a teleseminar they were doing, which would provide them with great content and then an opportunity to take up an offer they would make at the end of a call about their new teleseminar series.

What I’d forgotten was that (more...)

Why support is crucial

Last night I went to the first meeting of a group called Lighten Up — we all want to manage our weight in a way that sustains our health at an optimum level. Along with Pilates exercises and other forms of exercise, there is an emphasis on using the power of your thoughts to change how you think about food. Right up my street, as I’m sure you can imagine!

But what I noticed last night was that I had vague feelings of shame and embarassment. Why? Because I had a thought that I ‘shouldn’t’ need to to go a group like this’; that I ‘ought to be able to do this on my own’. Well, as you can also imagine I simply noticed this and thought (more...)

I’m currently running the pilot programme for The RichThinking Way (which I think is going excellently by the way!) and today’s call was focusing on feelings, but specifically how allowing and receiving are so important in our businesses.

We finished the call, as we always do, with me recommending some inspired actions for people to take. The call ended, I went off for lunch, and on returning found this lovely comment in my inbox:

I thought I’d share with you that following the phone call this morning, I immediately logged on to my on-line bank account to set up a monthly standing order to pay myself a salary! No time like the present. Thank you so much for yet another inspiring conference call.

This was from Pascale (more...)

Our electricity has gone out! So I am writing this by candlelight, with my laptop and working to the deadline of the battery power running out, or the electrician coming, whichever happens first. It’s making me realise how very dependent we are on electricity!

But this brings me to the matter of deadlines; if you don’t usually operate them,I highly recommend it for making you focus. I use this very simple technique practically every day — I simply decide how long I am going to focus on a particular piece of work, an hour or whatever, and stop when I reach that point. There is no doubt that this enables me to get much more quality work done, simply because I am so much more focused. Yes, you do have to be (more...)

Growing into a new idea

I’ve received lots of lovely feedback about the new site — thank you so much if you’ve taken time to do that. Plus lots of useful feedback too, about various things that weren’t quite working. The ones I don’t understand I pass on to Mark, the guy who is in charge of the technological aspect of the site. He’s the one sent me an email about bugs, scripts and spambots (what on earth are they???)

Which reminded me of a situation I found myself in about 18 months ago. I was on a marketing seminar, and was being introduced to all kinds of technological methods to manage websites, monitor results and generally have control of your business. The guy lecturing was enthusiastic and passionate about what (more...)
