The Power of Inspiration, Imagination and Action

Recently I was interviewed by Paul Harvey of www.market-that.com on the subject of How to Manage in Troubled Times. I spent an enjoyable hour basically sharing with people how I manage my own worries and concerns, what I’ve learnt to do that works, and what doesn’t work, and inviting people to try some of the tools out for themselves.

One of the things I use is the power of my imagination. Commonly known as visualising, don’t be put off by this term if you are not someone who thinks in images. I do think in pictures, but my husband doesn’t, so I am well versed in the challenges of people who don’t ‘see’ things in their mind’s eye, but rather [read more]

Ah, the irony!

After a very enjoyable interview last Thursday evening with Paul Harvey of www.market-that.com, entitled How to Manage in Troubled Times, I came off the phone feeling great, very buoyant, and pleased with how it had gone. So far so good. Then in the wee hours of the morning, 2.30am to be precise I was awake. I didn’t think I was worrying, but something had certainly woken me, so I was immediately given the great opportunity to reflect on what I had shared in the call about my Middle of the Night Survival Kit (a list of what to to when you wake up worrying in the night).

Yes, I got to walk my talk just a [read more]

How not to operate your blog

I’m shocked! I just saw the last date that I blogged here was nearly two weeks ago. Amazing how time passes.

This is not the way to blog, I do know that. But because I haven’t yet set up a system, let alone operate one, to remind myself to blog regularly, of course it doesn’t happen, and that’s when time seems to slip away.

So lesson one in blogging — decide why you’re blogging and how often you want to do it. There’s lots more souls out there who know more about this than me, but even just from a common sense point of view, if you want to keep in touch with people visiting your site, and keep them [read more]

How valuable is your time? Calculating your hourly rate

How valuable are you? Well of course, you’re unique, and therefore priceless, that goes without saying. Whether you believe this or not is another matter, but that’s not what this article is about. Instead this article is about what your hourly rate really is – and it’s not the one you charge to clients!

To find out how valuable you are, get your calculator and work out the following:

  1. Think about how much money you want to make over the next year.
  2. Calculate how many weeks you want to work to earn that money.
  3. Calculate how many hours in a week you want to work
  4. Multiply the no. of weeks by the no. hrs per week you’ll be working
  5. Divide

Joint ventures and your database

A joint venture in the internet marketing world is when two or more people join together to help promote their business to each others’ mailing lists. I’ve been investigating this lately, and although I have learnt a lot about it from various people more experienced than I, what I hadn’t realised is that my whole marketing programme needs to be laid out before I can approach others.

I discovered this when I agreed blithely to promote a colleagues’ work, and introduce my mailing list to a teleseminar they were doing, which would provide them with great content and then an opportunity to take up an offer they would make at the end of a call about their new teleseminar series.
