How resistance (contrast) shows up in actions

“I cannot know that this is not the next step in my liberation” Barbara Swetina, www.sacredsongs.net

What is resistance or contrast? When you are pushing against the flow. Like the difference between going upstream (resistance) and going downstream (in the flow). Resistance or contrast shows up when we have stepped into the flow, and it becomes an obstacle. It’s when you are interfering with things that are really not your job. See my article re Working up to the Line

Typical ‘bad’ habits and likely forms of resistance from which they come (check these out for yourself, your particular habit may come from a different form of resistance, or [read more]

Deva Premal and Miten

Imagine the octagonal shaped Universal Hall at the Findhorn Foundation, the youngest listed building in the country, created with love and filled with over 300 people all listening to simply beautiful Indian chants, mantras and a touch of blues.

This is what I was listening to last night — Deva Premal and Miten, along with Manose, a very talented Indian flute player, were transporting me to seventh heaven! They were so loving in the creation of their music, so funny in their stories, and so willing to share the creation of a loving space that it was impossible not to be moved by their music. Your Jewel is already there – just forgotten. Or [read more]

At university I perfected the art of doodling while listening to the lecturers, and I still do that today. It does help me to concentrate and it’s one way I’ve learnt of managing the need to ‘gobble’. The problem with gobbling is that you’re so busy getting the information down your throat that, just like gobbling real food, you don’t notice the taste [read more]

RichThinker of the Month: Satish Kumar

posted in Uncategorised

satishWhen he was only nine years old, Satish Kumar renounced the world and joined the wandering brotherhood of Jain monks. Dissuaded from his path by an inner voice at the age of eighteen, he left the monastic order and became a campaigner for land reform, working to turn Gandhi’s vision of a peaceful world into reality. Fired by the example of Bertrand Russell, he undertook an 8,000 mile peace pilgrimage, walking from India to America without any money, through deserts, mountains, storms and snow. It was an adventure during which he was thrown into jail in France, faced a loaded gun in America – and delivered packets of ‘peace tea’ to the leaders of the four nuclear powers. In 1973, [read more]
