The ‘What Colour is Your Parachute?’ Prioritising process

in Business Basics, Jane's Blog

Last night I was sitting with my husband down at Findhorn Bay (lovely evening, still water, yachts bobbing gently). We were talking about what other things to do to promote The RichThinking Way which starts next Wednesday 1st September (early bird price ends today at midnight by the way!).

Well, there’s a lot we could do, and will do. But the most interesting and useful part of our discussion was how we arrived at prioritising the list. If you’ve never done this before, then I highly recommend this particular method, which very clearly identifies your priorities. (I introduce you to lots of other methods on the RichThinking Way).

Basically, you compare one item against another. I first came across this years ago in Richard Bolles excellent bookWhat Colour is Your Parachute? and have used it very successfully in all areas ever since. So long as you are willing to be honest, it often gives you some surprises, which can be both enlightening and useful.

Here’s a PDF for you to access which explains it fully:

If you’re familiar with my blogs, you might be wondering why I’m not using my intuition, or asking in meditation or something more esoteric! But I have a very practical side too, and love using tools that help me be more organised, which this did. By the way, doing my blog came out on top, hence sitting here at 9am today!
