Beliefs about money get in the way!

in Heart of RichThinking, Jane's Blog

I’m on the RichThinking journey too, just like anyone who’s attracted to this site, and I get to learn all the time too. What does this mean? Well the latest that it’s meant to me is that I’ve been wondering why registrations for the RichThinking Way have been not as quick or prolific as I expected them to be. In my way of thinking, that meant I was out of alignment somehow. But I couldn’t see how.

Until this weekend. I was out walking in the woods early, when it occurred to me that my parents had demonstrated very well the rather old-fashioned concept of traditional male/female roles in regards to money. My Dad was the breadwinner, my Mum did work (on top of caring for 4 children) but only for what was known as pin money. Pin money was originally a small allowance given to a woman in order to purchase clothes etc. for herself. More recently it has been used to describe any small amount of money which might be earned by children or the low-paid for some service. In my parent’s case it was to pay for extras (and at times, for essentials too).

Even though I’ve known about this idea of pin money for years now, and done lots of work on my money beliefs, it was only this weekend that I realised I had taken this idea on as a belief, ie that I was only ever allowed to earn ‘pin money’.

Now I’ve never had an opportunity to discover this before my husband got ill and couldn’t work in the same way as before. But now I am the one who brings in most of the money. Except it hasn’t been most — it’s been more or less equal. Why? Because of this attitude! I did the Step by Step Rich Thoughts process with this belief and felt a huge weight lift off my mind when I got to the point of allowing. My statement began ‘I allow myself to bring in much much more than just pin money’ and I really began to feel lighter and more positive.

Usually people tell these stories when they can report some success. Well, today I did have a booking from a new client; and someone signed up for the year long Intensive RichThinking Way, which of course I’m delighted about. Is this coincidence? Who knows? Personally I think it’s got something to do with the energy that I’ve released. So watch this space and I’ll share more of my RichThinking journey with you.
