How not to operate your blog

posted in Business Basics, Jane's Blog

I’m shocked! I just saw the last date that I blogged here was nearly two weeks ago. Amazing how time passes.

This is not the way to blog, I do know that. But because I haven’t yet set up a system, let alone operate one, to remind myself to blog regularly, of course it doesn’t happen, and that’s when time seems to slip away.

So lesson one in blogging — decide why you’re blogging and how often you want to do it. There’s lots more souls out there who know more about this than me, but even just from a common sense point of view, if you want to keep in touch with people visiting your site, and keep them up to date, then a blog is (more...)

How valuable is your time? Calculating your hourly rate

posted in Business Basics

How valuable are you? Well of course, you’re unique, and therefore priceless, that goes without saying. Whether you believe this or not is another matter, but that’s not what this article is about. Instead this article is about what your hourly rate really is – and it’s not the one you charge to clients!

  5. Divide the total no. of hrs you’ll be working in the year into the amount you (more...)

He had a very particular vision: Uplifting the Soul and Spirit through beauty, to help people regain their sensation of beauty physically, so that we, as a culture, move into the next Golden Age. He says:

“I wanted people to be able to engage with art in its many forms, the aim being to raise their curiosity and inspire them to an intellectual appreciation of art and the significance of beauty in their own lives – art as an ‘anti-depressant.

Only this high dream existed and a ‘promise’ that all would be fulfilled. To start, we had nothing; no money, no land, no skills. All else was added (more...)

Inspired action in practice

posted in Jane's Blog

It seems that I often get opportunities to choose between ‘outer’ actions, ie those that are about doing, like making a phone call, writing an article, creating a landing page, and ‘inner’ actions, which are more about ‘being’, ie sitting down and listening to a visualisation; taking a moment or two out of the day to simply be still and breathe consciously; or to remind myself that I am not alone in doing this business, I am in partnership with my soul too.

Just an hour or so ago, I had returned to my desk and was checking emails. One had come in from a marketing guy, with a short video clip to watch about his methods. I was watching it when suddenly (more...)
