Inspired action in practice

in Jane's Blog

It seems that I often get opportunities to choose between ‘outer’ actions, ie those that are about doing, like making a phone call, writing an article, creating a landing page, and ‘inner’ actions, which are more about ‘being’, ie sitting down and listening to a visualisation; taking a moment or two out of the day to simply be still and breathe consciously; or to remind myself that I am not alone in doing this business, I am in partnership with my soul too.

Just an hour or so ago, I had returned to my desk and was checking emails. One had come in from a marketing guy, with a short video clip to watch about his methods. I was watching it when suddenly a voice appeared from my computer! It was the sound of a recording that I had been aware of the previous night about ‘meeting your future business self’, and that I intended to listen to later on this evening (even though I had a few doubts, given that it’s Friday evening!)

Well, with a message like that, so clear, how could I refuse? This is an example of an inspired action if ever there was one! So I’ve just been listening and what it has given me is total inspiration for the last class of the RichThinking Way Pilot programme, currently running. Wow. God moves in mysterious ways or what!

On reflection, I, like so many others, easily fall into thinking that if I ‘just do that’ then I will feel better, or that problem will be solved, or another hour of working on that task will complete it. And really, it is much better, for me at least, to simply stop a moment. Be still. Listen for inspiration or inner guidance — and only then act. Every time I do this, I complete things in less time than I thought it would take, or I get inspired to present a better class than my original plan, or something else happens to make the process easy. This time, I was given a very strong message indeed to stop and be still. Thank you Universe!
