How not to operate your blog
I’m shocked! I just saw the last date that I blogged here was nearly two weeks ago. Amazing how time passes.
This is not the way to blog, I do know that. But because I haven’t yet set up a system, let alone operate one, to remind myself to blog regularly, of course it doesn’t happen, and that’s when time seems to slip away.
So lesson one in blogging — decide why you’re blogging and how often you want to do it. There’s lots more souls out there who know more about this than me, but even just from a common sense point of view, if you want to keep in touch with people visiting your site, and keep them up to date, then a blog is probably the best way to do it. But a system is needed to remind you to do this. So if you’ve got a blog and you’re reading this, but you’re one of the many people who aren’t blogging regularly, then take a risk — make a commitment to blogging on certain days, or once a week, or once a fortnight, and then (in the words of Richard Branson’s book) Just Do It!
Well, if ‘just doing it’ was that easy, a lot more would get accomplished wouldn’t it! So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to make a commitment to blogging at least twice per week. On a Monday and a Thursday. There. Now I’ve said it, I’ll have to do it, to keep in integrity with myself! And to demonstrate I walk my talk. I’ll do this for a month and then review the situation.
So thank you whoever is reading this — you have given me a great gift by being here, because I am committed to communicating now regularly. What a blessing it is that I do this work, which requires of me that I do it as well as you!
