Why support is crucial

in Business Basics, Jane's Blog

Last night I went to the first meeting of a group called Lighten Up — we all want to manage our weight in a way that sustains our health at an optimum level. Along with Pilates exercises and other forms of exercise, there is an emphasis on using the power of your thoughts to change how you think about food. Right up my street, as I’m sure you can imagine!

But what I noticed last night was that I had vague feelings of shame and embarassment. Why? Because I had a thought that I ‘shouldn’t’ need to to go a group like this’; that I ‘ought to be able to do this on my own’. Well, as you can also imagine I simply noticed this and thought ‘How interesting!’. Because it was interesting. It didn’t stop me from attending, and it doesn’t stop me from talking about it here.

Why? Because support is CRUCIAL! Yes, I know a lot about thoughts and feelings and how they can inform our lives, and RichThinkers is very much about that in relation to business. But I need support too — I have a coach from whom I get support, I have a team of people whom I work with who are great supporters, and I have a husband who is actively working on the business with me too. So why on earth would I think I don’t need support in another area?

Well, of course it’s rubbish — I know from my own experience as well as that of others that when you reach out and find support, you are not only making a statement to the world that you are worthy of it, but also it’s a lot easier to make and keep commitments, and therefore to see results! So it’s just an old idea, still lurking around and to be acknowledged and then let go of.

If you resonate with this, just check in to see in which area of your life you could do with some support . Can you dare to allow yourself to have it? And if you are lacking support in the area of business, then watch this space for upcoming info about the new RichThinking Way, designed specifically to support you from the inside out in your business or project. How good would it be if you actually did achieve all the things you’ve said you want to do this year? With support, you’ll up your chances of that happening many times over.
