It’s 4am. What on earth am I doing up on my website at this time in the morning? Its because I had an inspiration, and needed to act on it. It’s not unusual for me to wake at this time; it’s more unusual to get up — and it’s definitely unusual to switch on the computer!
But I was inspired to do this because of wanting to know how thinking rich manifests in your life. I found myself imagining a series of posts, full of interesting and even useful ideas on this topic. So here I am, typing away in the wee small hours — and for me, that’s an example of thinking rich — being able to do this and feel good about it, instead of lying in bed and fretting about why I’m not sleeping. Another way thinking rich manifests for me is having lots of jewel like colours around me, including in what I wear. Plus I love sewing and working with richly textured materials.
What about you? What does thinking rich mean to you and how does it manifest in your life?

I know that waking at 4.00am can be one sign that anxious stress is creeping into life, so if I find myself waking at 4.00am (which is extremely rare for me now) then I take a mental note to increase my focus on chilling out — and I have a whole gamut of joyful activities and strategies to increase my levels of ‘stresslessness’ — next I take a good long look at my sleeping partner and remember all the things I love about him (it’s easier to do when he’s sleeping!!). Then I take a look at the sky outside and, whether it’s a dark night sky or an early morning skye, I am reminded of the sheer wonder of the universe and I breathe in a breath of pure joy that I’m here experiencing at his time… just BEing here. Then I look at the view — at the world around — and reaffirm that I’m so lucky to be here, in this place, with beauty all around me. And then I snuggle back into my bed and to sleep. If I wake early, inspired with a bright idea, then I get on and take action on it straight away because the inspiration can fade away if it’s left until a more ‘reasonable hour’. Inspiration often comes at odd, inconvenient times like this and it’s effective to take action right then and there, while you’re ‘in the flow’. BUT anxiety can also show up in ‘early morning waking’ so it’s useful to be able to recognize this too and take appropriate preventative action.
Lovely Julie, and thanks for sharing these tips. I’ll add the ones about the sky to my Middle of the Night Survival Kit! Meanwhile check that out for what I do at http://www.richthinkers.co.uk/wp/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=176 (sorry for the long link, haven’t worked out how to do shorter ones yet).
