Quality work and deadlines

posted in Business Basics, Jane's Blog

Our electricity has gone out! So I am writing this by candlelight, with my laptop and working to the deadline of the battery power running out, or the electrician coming, whichever happens first. It’s making me realise how very dependent we are on electricity!

But this brings me to the matter of deadlines; if you don’t usually operate them,I highly recommend it for making you focus. I use this very simple technique practically every day — I simply decide how long I am going to focus on a particular piece of work, an hour or whatever, and stop when I reach that point. There is no doubt that this enables me to get much more quality work done, simply because I am so much more focused. In the last few days I’ve received info about a marketing programme, a marketing teleclass, a new personal coaching programme, and a new business to business forum. All of which I’m interested in, and of course only some of which I can do.

So, how to choose? Well, there’s (more...)
