I’ve received lots of lovely feedback about the new site — thank you so much if you’ve taken time to do that. Plus lots of useful feedback too, about various things that weren’t quite working. The ones I don’t understand I pass on to Mark, the guy who is in charge of the technological aspect of the site. He’s the one sent me an email about bugs, scripts and spambots (what on earth are they???)
Which reminded me of a situation I found myself in about 18 months ago. I was on a marketing seminar, and was being introduced to all kinds of technological methods to manage websites, monitor results and generally have control of your business. The guy lecturing was enthusiastic and passionate about what he does, and managed to make it all sound very easy. (Which I discovered later was not quite true!)
What I’ve found, especially over the last six months, is that with a new idea that is maybe outside of your comfort zone, it can take time to grow into it. Some people can make the leap and jump right in; others need to taste the water first with a big toe, and then walk in slowly. I’m one of the latter, and I suspect most people unused to technology are. So if you find you’re berating yourself for knowing what you ‘should’ be doing marketing-wise, and are not doing — check to see if you really are resisting, or are you in fact moving steadily towards the deep end and by that, growing into the new idea. It’s OK to go slowly!

Hi Jane — well i think this website looks fantastic and, although i don’t have time right now to look at all of it, i’m going to make the time and try to persuade Adam to look properly too. i think we need some help in how we think about money! its funny reading about you and this business when i know you as my sister — but it makes me feel really proud that you are my sister and that you’ve managed to set up this business which i think is totally right for you. You have been inspirational to me in many ways but especially in how to think positively and the benefits of thinking thaty way. got to go cos isobel’s just woken up. Well done and thankyou. XXX ( not sure if this is ok to write on a blog but doing it any way!)
