Enjoying a marketing conference

in Business Basics, Jane's Blog

I’m currently in Belfast attending a marketing seminar of Bernadette Doyle, entitled ‘More Leads, More Clients, More Sales’. She had put out a survey to her list wanting to know what people wanted more of, and this seminar is the result.

My parents live in Belfast so that was another reason to want to be here. Everything starts tomorrow and so I’m getting ready right now, to be inspired, fulfilled and meet lots of new and interesting contacts. I’ve been working on my ‘elevator speech’, ready for it to pop out of my mouth when someone asks me ‘what do you do?’.

An elevator speech is a few sentences that you would say to someone in an elevator when you only have a few moments to tell them what you’re up to. Takes some crafting, I can tell you!

But I’ve been enjoying getting to the essence of what I do, which is helping people get into the flow of creativity in their working lives. Gosh, life is so much easier when you’re in this flow! And yet most people don’t even know that this is how it CAN be, let alone this is how it’s SUPPOSED to be!

Earlier this morning I was realising that I now think the point of life is to enjoy it; and I remembered when I first came across this concept about 20 years ago and I was just annoyed by it! Now, I think it’s spot on. After all, if you’re not enjoying yourself, what IS the point?

So you can be sure that the one thing that will be happening on this conference is that I will be enjoying myself, and if I’m not, I’ll change what I’m doing and do something enjoyable instead!

Right now, I’m off to walk through the Botanic Gardens for a coffee — another way to enjoy myself!
