RichThinking in Action
I put up a YouTube video clip recently of me talking to camera about my new e-study manual How To Be a RichThinker: essential inner tools of success. (It’s not up, by the way, so you can’t view it!)
Why isn’t it up anymore? Because it wasn’t good enough. I’d hardly even been in front of a camera before, but the most amazing thing was that I hadn’t really prepared for it. Result: I learned a lot, but didn’t achieve what I thought was my aim, to have a clip up on YouTube.
So I set up a time to play around with a friend and his camera, setting my intention to just have fun. Again, though, I hadn’t really prepared for it, in that even though I had suggested questions to be asked of me, I didn’t know what my answers were going to be.
What’s going on here? As Philip so rightly pointed out, I put more energy into giving a speech at toastmasters than I did for this video session.
Finally I got it.
I don’t like looking at videos. I hardly ever watch films or DVD’s, and if I can avoid it, I never watch clips on other people’s website. I prefer to read material if at all possible.
So wham! I’d got an insight — and this set me free to enjoy what I was doing in front of the camera. I still hadn’t left any time to prepare as this enlightening moment only happened half an hour or so before filming, but being willing to ask myself that hugely powerful question
“What’s really going on here?”
and answer it meant that I could move forward with a lighter heart and really gain some good information about how to put my message across on camera.
I’ll let you know when there really is a clip to look at on YouTube!
