Have you got a diary coach?
A diary coach is when you make an appointment in your diary, and then treat the diary as if it were your coach and you’d committed yourself to doing what you said you were going to do. It takes some discipline and organisation, but it really works!
This idea has come out of me noticing that whenever I put something in my diary, it’s more likely to happen than not. I always thought I had to note things down because otherwise I’d forget them, but actually it has this other function too.
The other day I booked an appointment with me. I blocked out 2 hours, and wrote in ‘Big Picture’. It was so I’d actually take the time I needed to think. I combined it with a walk, but because I’d used my diary coach, I had the intention on the walk to think about my business from the big picture point of view.
And it worked! Because I’d committed myself, I did it. So I highly recommend introducing yourself to your new friend, your diary coach.
Of course, a diary coach doesn’t inspire you, listen to you, give you great tips, or generally celebrate your successes and help you feel good – but it does help you get things done!
There’s only one little challenge – you have to remember in the first place to look in your diary…
